Footprints Family Haven is happy to have a group of Birth Doulas, ready to supprt you through your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum period. The doulas on our referral page are accepting NEW CLIENTS, due anytime, depending on their availability. We feel it is very important that all couples have access to a doula and the doulas on our referral list willing to work with you to offer you support during pregnancy, labor and birth -- no matter what your financial situation. Some of the doulas are offering a discounted rate for clients while they gain experience and work toward our certification with DONA.
Doulas help with compiling birth plans, answering questions about what you are experiencing during your pregnancy,support you and your partner throughout labor and birth, foster communication with hospital staff and yourselves and help you achieve a birth that you want to write home about! Doulas also document your birth with photos (optional) and a keepsake birth story. Your doula will stay with you until breastfeeding has been initiated and will be available post-natally to answer any questions and provide breastfeeding support.
Typically half of the fee is due when you sign the contract, and the other half is due at 36 weeks. Please do not dismiss having a Doula due to financial reasons, drop us an e-mail and we can discuss your specific situation! Our doulas fees vary, depending on the services you choose.
Our doulas services include:
- 2 or more scheduled prenatal visits
- An on-call Doula for 4 weeks, from 38-42 weeks.
- Unlimited 24 hour email consultation
- Unlimited business hours phone consultation (after business hours for emergency only)
- Attend a prenatal doctor's appointment with you, if you choose.
- Guidance on non-clinical pain relief and comfort methods
- Early labour support as requested, in client's home or at the birth place as agreed
- Constant Doula support from active labour, when service is requested
- Immediate postpartum support, up to 2 hours immediately following the birth
- Preserving a positive and peaceful birthing environment
- Using non-medical support techniques (examples: massage, counter pressure, aromatherpy etc.)
- Maintaining a birth log record of significant events and milestones
- Taking photographs (if you wish)
- 1 or more scheduled postpartum visits
- A keepsake birth story to be delivered within 30 days after your birth
- Other services are available, please ask your doula for more information (ie. bellycasting, placenta encapsulation, labour pool use/set-up/clean-up etc.)
